While Madonna was spending Thanksgiving in Africa meeting with Malawi’s new president, Peter Mutharika, someone was rummaging through the new tracks from her upcoming album, due early next year, and decided to leak a snippet of “Rebel Heart,” a song the singer’s been referencing on Instagram for months. A mere 48 hours later, the full song has started circling the web. The midtempo track finds the Queen of Pop reflecting on her life as a “narrr-cissist” to a throbbing beat and copious guitars and strings, the contemplative lyrics and deeper vocal register reminiscent 2003’s American Life. The difference between the songs from that album and “Rebel Heart,” however, is that, like the tracks on 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor, Madonna’s message here comes in an über-accessible package with a rousing hook. It’s unclear if the song is the demo reportedly produced by Avicii or the final version of the track, which was completed by fellow Swede Magnus Lidehäll after the former became ill earlier this year, but one thing is certain: Despite her latest bout of self-enlightenment, Madonna is probably really pissed right now.

Another Avicii-assisted track, the disco-flavored “Wash All Over Me,” was also leaked last night, this one in more obvious demo form:
