The Truth About Fox

Just how far will she go? Killing babies, perhaps? Hmmm? Kitten soup?

In the midst of the Bush administration’s latest scandal, I’ve periodically flipped through the three major cable news networks and noticed something odd (or not so odd, actually): While CNN and MSNBC have devoted a large (though not inappropriate) portion of their programming to interviews with Joseph Wilson, the husband of the C.I.A. agent allegedly outed by White House svengali Karl Rove, Fox News has toggled between “exclusives” about a high-level terror suspect arrest in Iraq and, just minutes ago, a puff piece and interview with Edward Klein, author of The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She’ll Go to Become President (just one look at the unflattering, oddly cropped photo of Clinton on the book’s sleeve below should tell you where Klein’s loyalties lie). Inquiring minds would like to know: Just how far will she go? Killing babies, perhaps? Hmmm? Kitten soup? Apparently FOX has decided to start a smear campaign against the New York senator and former First Lady, whom the publisher calls “the most polarizing figure in American politics” (ha!), a full three years before the next presidential election. Those conservatives sure know how to plan ahead. Just look at Iraq. Meanwhile, Desperate Housewives’s 15 Emmy nominations have sadly gone overlooked.
