Lady Gaga and Doechii aim to turn the dance floor into a runway on their new single “Runway,” from the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. Co-written by Gaga, Doechii, Bruno Mars, Andrew Watt, Cirkut, Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II, and Jayda Love, the track was previewed in the final trailer for the 20th Century Studios film earlier this week.
Doechii recently presented Gaga with the Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, noting the singer’s impact on her young LGBTQ fans, and the duo injects “Runway” with a ballroom flair—though aside from an errant “bitch,” the lyrics remain geared toward general audiences. Gaga’s hook nods to the largely anonymous soul singers who appeared on the myriad house-pop songs that dominated radio airwaves in the early ’90s.
