Writer-director Marja-Lewis Ryan’s 6 Balloons premiered last night at SXSW, and at least according to Film Twitter, the response was a warm one. According to the official mini-description of the film: “Over the course of one night, a woman drives across LA with her heroin addict brother in search of a detox center, with his two year old daughter in tow.” Dave Franco stars as Seth, who relapses on heroin while his sister, Katie (Abbi Jacobson), is organizing a surprise party for her boyfriend. What follows is a journey that tests their relationship and, inevitably, brings them closer than ever before.
Ryan’s directorial debut also stars Tim Matheson (Animal House, The West Wing) and Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle, The Big Bang Theory).
