Just two weeks after announcing the departure of bassist and founding member Kim Deal from the band, the Pixies have released their first new single since 2004’s digital-only “Bam Twok.” The music for the catchy “Bagboy” has reportedly been around for a while, but if this means a new album is in the works, it would be the band’s first since 1991’s Trompe le Monde. The song’s striking video, directed by LAMAR+NIK (“No Caps. No Space. Or Else,” says their website), features the titular boy stocking up at the grocery store under a sign that reads “Fresh Meat” and then setting off smoke bombs, playing drums on expensive china, and taking a bath in Froot Loops in what appears, at first, to be his parents’ house.
