Currently, Red Dead Redemption sits as our number two greatest game of all time, so there’s more than a little chomping at the bit in the lead up to the release of its prequel, Red Dead Redemption II, on October 26. To help tide things over—or perhaps to refocus attention away from questions about Rockstar’s “100-hour-week” labor practices—there’s a new minute-long trailer designed to sell the game’s cinematic and western bona fides.
Protagonist Arthur Morgan is right in more ways than he knows when he states that “there’s always a goddamn train,” but it’s no exaggeration to say that this is the best looking one to ever appear in a video game. Beyond that, the train makes for a glorious and explosive centerpiece around which to showcase snippets of the bank robberies, horseback heists, and brutal shootouts that players can expect. (There’s also a rain-soaked shot of a terrifying evening showdown with a massive black bear, for those worried there might not be enough survivalist elements in the game.)
Whet your whistle with this here trailer, pardner:
