Drake, “Hold On We’re Going Home”: Drizzy goes disco, or rather mid-aughts disco, on the latest track from his forthcoming Nothing Was the Same, due out September 17th.
Earl Sweatshirt, “Burgundy”: Another new song, this one produced by Pharrell and featuring Vince Staples, has leaked from Odd Future member Earl Sweatshirt’s solo debut, Doris, supposedly coming on August 20th.
Frankie Rose, “Sorrow”: “Sorrow” is a dreamily nostalgic, string-laden new-wave track from Brooklyn singer-songwriter (and former member of Crystal Stilts, Dum Dum Girls, and Vivian Girls) Frankie Rose’s upcoming third album Herein Wild, out September 24th in the U.S.
Jon Hopkins featuring Purity Ring, “Breathe This Air”: Purity Ring’s Megan James sings on a new version of a track from ambient techno artist Jon Hopkins’s recently released album Immunity, and it’s refreshing to hear her angelic voice in a new context, as last year’s Shrines could have benefited from a little more diversity. Hopkins’s tour reaches the U.S. at the end of the month, where he’ll be joined by Purity Ring for two L.A. dates.
