Banksy

Can we get a cyber-hand for those who contributed to our coverage of the New York Film Festival here on the House and on the main site? Tomorrow, look for a wrap-up Q&A between House correspondents Elise Nakhnikian, Kenji Fujishima, and Aaron Cutler, whose fine piece on Certified Copy has a fan in the esteemed Jonathan Rosenbaum.

Yesterday's amazing intro from The Simpsons, created by guerilla artist Banksy, furthers the impression that the Exit Through the Gift Shop filmmaker and capitalism are not on good terms. (Since FOX won't allow clips from the show to be posted online, you'll have to see it here.)

This year's Nobel Prize winners: Andrew Geim and Konstantin Novoselov (Physics); Richard Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi, and Akira Suzuki (Chemistry), Robert G. Edwards (Physiology or Medicine); Mario Vargas Llosa (Literature); Liu Xiaobo (Peace); and Peter A. Diamond, Dale T. Mortensen, and Christopher A. Pissarides (Economics).

Last month, our friends at indieWIRE lost their co-founder, Eugene Hernandez, who will join the Film Society of Lincoln Center in the newly created role of Director of Digital Strategy; last week, the company also lost Todd McCarthy, who will join The Hollywood Reporter as their chief film critic. Fret not, the company is still in very fine hands, with Anne Thompson having been named the company's Editor-at-Large. Congratulations, Anne.

This Friday, Jackass enters another dimension of idiocy: 3D. For The New York Times, Dennis Lim ponders, "But is it art?" According to his Facebook page, this hilarious Johnny Knoxville quote was deemed unprintable by the paper: "As opposed to Dada, we're more doo-doo."
