“Socialist Utopia,” Here We Come!

For those of you who didn't watch C-SPAN all night like I—and apparently Ben Craw at The Huffington Post—did yesterday, here's the House of Representatives' historic health care debate and passage in a nutshell...a great, big, socialist, fear-mongering, freedom-lovin' nutshell:

Wow Nebraska Rep. Jeff Fortenberry's anecdote about the 9-year old boy asking "If the government gets so bad, which country should we move to?" reeked of bad faith. Anybody with any principles (who didn't just flat-out make this up) wouldn't have used an anecdote like that in a speech, because it illuminates nothing about the issue at hand -- except childrens' capacity to be brainwashed, misinformed and otherwise misused by the adults around them. This is a watered-down bill, but thank God it passed. If the history of American government teaches us anything, it's that it's almost impossible to repeal a law or stop a course of action once it's underway. What's done almost never gets undone. The first glimmerings of government-managed healthcare are here at long last. America, welcome to the civilized world.
