A friend who works in the theater once told me of apprenticing with a lighting director in New York. His job required that the actors make themselves available for staging rehearsals, but too many of them would refuse to assist, haughtily insisting they'd take orders from nobody save the director or writer.

Till he started wearing a self-designed tee-shirt to rehearsals:

Lighting Director: Fuck with me and you act in the dark.

Here's to all the focus pullers, gaffers, riggers, script supervisors, prop wranglers, and other below-the-line talent who died last year, but remained too anonymous in their invaluable contributions to make the obituary ranks posted in the links for the day.
