Violá! The Top 10 Compilation Page

By: Ed Gonzalez On: 02/16/2006 00:56:14 In: Lists Comments: 208

As promised, I've created a page on the Slant Magazine server that amasses all Top 10 lists I've unveiled here in the last few months, meaning I can now resume writing more Notes from the Underground columns, which will likely consist of mini write-ups of films I see throughout the week. Click here to see (and bookmark!) the page; right now, the aesthetic is totally bootleg, but I may spruce it up at some point (maybe a picture of Mulholland Drive at the top?). Rather than having to scroll through the entire page and spot the gray highlights, would a notes section that catalogues the latest 10 or so additions be easier on the eyes and brain? Does the title of the thing make it sound as if I died last year in my 90s? Should I pick a more gender-neutral color as the background for the page? All comments and recommendations can be made here or through the Top 10 page—since both locations now share the same comments section. I'd actually really appreciate if people suggested Blind Spots for the years where there are few or no films listed in that section. Peace out.

I love yr lists.  I am currently amassing my own Top 10 Vault over at my site thecinematheque.com.  My goal for 2007 is to see 800+ films.  I am currently running at about 240 per year, so the uppage shall be great.  Keep up the good work.

Ed, I'm pretty astonished by this page man. I've been a movie buff since I was a kid and I keep finding surprises in your lists. Favorite surpise so far is Todd Haynes' "Superstar". I am watching it on Google video right now. Pretty sure the only way you CAN watch it these days...Would love to see a review on your website when you get around to it. I Just can't believe what I'm watching. I mean that in a great way. Love the site.

You should add some of Valerio Zurlini's work to you must-see list, Ed.

The lists could also use some Ruiz - he is profoundly important.

Thanks for the lists, lots of recommendations. I have a lot of comments but they're redundant because I have so much yet to see and obviously we can't agree on everything. Nevertheless, I would like to inquire about your 1998 #2. What is the meaning of it?
